Built to be used by everyone.
VibeTree exists for people who are often shut out. A website that shuts people out would be a poor way to say that.
Our commitment
We design and test VibeTree so that people with disabilities can navigate and understand it as effectively as possible. We aim at the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our working standard and check pages against it as we build.
We want to be straight with you: VibeTree has not been independently audited or certified, and we do not claim to be fully compliant or “100% accessible”. Some parts of the site — particularly third-party embeds we do not control — may still present barriers. When we find one, we fix it.
What is in place today
- Semantic structure
- Pages are built from real HTML landmarks — one main region per page, headings in order, lists marked up as lists — so screen readers can announce structure and let people jump between sections.
- Text alternatives for images
- Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text so assistive technology can convey what they show. Purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers instead of being announced as noise.
- Keyboard navigation
- Every link, button, form field, menu, modal and chat control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Dialogs can be closed with Escape and return focus where you left it.
- Visible focus
- Focus indicators are never removed. Whatever element you are on is outlined clearly against its background.
- Accessible forms and errors
- Fields have real labels rather than placeholder-only hints, related controls are grouped, and validation messages are announced to assistive technology rather than shown only as a colour change.
- Colour and contrast
- Body text and interface text are set against backgrounds chosen for contrast, and colour is never the only way information is communicated.
- Text scaling and zoom
- Layouts use relative units and reflow, so enlarging text or zooming to 200% does not clip or hide content.
- Reduced motion
- If your device asks for reduced motion, transitions and scroll animations are shortened or removed. Nothing important depends on an animation being seen.
- Chat and live regions
- The community chat and private inbox announce new messages politely through live regions, keep a logical reading order, and are usable with a keyboard and a screen reader.
- Media
- Embedded audio and video use the platform's own accessible player controls, which support keyboard operation and captions where the source provides them.
Known limitations
- Embedded players from YouTube and music platforms are supplied by those services; their controls and captions are outside our control.
- Member-written content — bios, chat messages, resource suggestions — is not something we can guarantee is written accessibly.
- We have tested with keyboard navigation and screen readers, but not with every combination of browser and assistive technology.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on VibeTree is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us what page you were on and what happened. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not suggestions. If you need information from the site in another format, ask and we will send it to you directly.
